Budapest Vivicittà 2012: a friendly run in a sunny (but cold) city

Last weekend in Budapest took place the usual Vivicittà run, now in its 27th edition: I could not miss. I booked a flight in January and on April 1st here I am again with my coat, as the cold is back in Europe for some days. I thank the providencial weather-sms that my mother sent me the night before, without which I would be traveling in short sleeves from the warm Milan. As the morning was unusually windy and  since I went out two hours earlier on the shot-off, I had to run and jump all the time waiting to keep myself warm. Once on the island, where Vivicittà is back from last year after a period of "temporary stay" in Varosliget (the Heroes' Park) due to the restoration of the Margit Bridge. For the first time since it closed down in 2009 (I think) I see the bridge completed and crossing it doesn't cause in me the usual murderous impulses which were provocated before by the crowd of people-stroller-bike-dog-runner who interfered with my running along the walkway left open. I must say that it was worth: Margit Híd it's much more beautiful than before. I meet Rita, Livia (which acts as a supporter), Marci and Luis, all colleagues and friends (we took pictures together in the collage), and we go to withdraw our pack-race.

News: a chip to be tied on your shoes' strings and that allows the recording of your time. The start is of course one slow thing: we are over 10 thousand people ... Slow and pleasant, thanks to the blazing guy I find next to me. Luckily he has a T-shirt with an original draw on it (slightly sexually motivated) as Rita asks him to take a picture with me and we start chatting.

I pleasantly discovered that my Hungarian has improved in recent months in Italy and talked for two days Magyar always without problems (except for an incomprehensible text messages I sent to my friend Eszter).

However we ran together a bit, then we lost. The race was magnificent. The route will explain why: starting up the spine of Margarita Island, bridge to Buda, along the Danube in Buda stretch inside, below the castle, the Chain Bridge in Pest tract, passing in front of the Parliament, returning to the island. More scenic than this ... I can't imagine! Beautiful moments in the gallery of Adam Clark Square (below the castle, usually thoroughfared, but closed to cars for the occasion) when everyone yelled loudly what he/she liked.
Basing on past experiences I have refused the frequent glasses of drinks elongated along the way: the first time I thought it was water and then throw it out immediately disgusted by the sweet taste of kiwi and energizing something. For a run of an hour you do not need supplements! A friend of mine had the good idea, always thinking it was water, to refresh  his head with it and he remained sticky for hours! Well it was a very nice day, see you next time!
